About This Show
Brotherhood is a crime drama set in Providence, Rhode Island, focusing on two Irish American brothers whose lives take very different paths. Tommy Caffee is a local politician trying to build influence within the city, while his brother Michael returns after years away with deep ties to organized crime. Their reunion pulls both of them into a complicated relationship where family loyalty and personal ambition often clash.
The series explores how politics and crime can overlap, especially in a close-knit community where connections matter as much as rules. Its tone is serious and grounded, with a strong focus on character decisions and their consequences. Rather than relying on fast action, the story builds tension through dialogue, shifting alliances, and moral conflict. By keeping the focus on the brothers and their competing worlds, the show presents a clear look at power, loyalty, and the cost of staying in control.

My Opinion About the Show
I found Brotherhood to be a solid, grit-soaked crime drama that effectively explores the thin line between politics and organized crime. Set in an Irish-American neighborhood in Providence, it centers on two brothers—one a rising politician and the other a notorious gangster—whose lives constantly collide. I was particularly impressed by the show's lived-in atmosphere and its refusal to glamorize the violence, making the moral decay of both worlds feel incredibly authentic and immediate.
While the performances are standout and the character work is deeply three-dimensional, I felt that the pacing occasionally stuttered, and some supporting characters remained a bit stagnant over the three seasons. It is a heavy, often grim watch that doesn't offer many traditionally "likable" characters, but it rewards those who appreciate a realistic look at loyalty and corruption. It is a decent, well-crafted series that captures the weight of family ties in a way that feels both tragic and inevitable.
